An opportunity to view Hannah Dorr’s hand-made lace, other lace articles in the Tinker Collection, and a once in a lifetime chance to see the glass topped showcase dining room table displaying the lace exhibition of Jessie Dorr Tinker.

Edgar Allan Poe visits Tinker Cottage.
On Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 pm, Rockford actor Christopher Brady will portray Edgar Allan Poe and present a reading of some of Poe’s famous writings. This “Halloween Season” event is for adults and will take place in the Parlor and Library of the Cottage. Light refreshments will be served in the Community Room of the Visitor Center following the reading. Edgar Allan Poe was an American poet, short-story writer, editor and literary critic. He is well known for his poem “The Raven” and is best known for his mysteries and ghoulish writings.

The Annual Community Halloween Party
This party will be offered free of charge for families and children from 12 noon to 4 pm at Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens. Activities that will be offered are Halloween crafts, a costume parade, pumpkin painting, face painting, a Halloween maze, popcorn, Cottage tours and more.

Victorian Holiday Cottage Tours
Holiday tours begin the day after Thanksgiving with General Admission tours offered at 1, 2 and 3 pm. Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum and Gardens members will receive a 20% discount on purchases made in the Museum Store on these days. What a great way to begin the Holiday Season!

Docent Training
An all-in-one training session for Tour Guides (Docents). The five 2 hr training session has been combined into one day to make it easier for participants to attend. The day will begin with breakfast treat, lunch will be provided in addition to an afternoon snack break. Those who “graduate” and agree to contribute at least 6 hours per month as a tour guide will receive a Tinker t-Shirt, lanyard with name badge and a 10% discount on all purchases made in the Museum Store. Volunteering at Tinker is a great way to meet new friends and to learn about Rockford history. Tinker also offers several social gatherings and events for Volunteers.
